Those of you that’ve seen the movie will get that better than those who haven’t. Ironhide gets killed by Megatron (in gun mode, held by Starscream) within the first 9 minutes.

After these mods are done is his just as tall as Sunstreaker and Sideswipe?

Rodimusdawg, Ironhide is still the same height as he’s supposed to be (about half a head shorter than Sunstreaker and Sideswipe.) Repositioning the crotch piece will give you more height, but Ironhide won’t look right. (He’ll be all torso [with a way too skinny waist] with stubby arms and legs.)
If you want an example, page 5 has a link to xhairs gallery on tformers, where he uses a transformation that makes Ironhide taller, but with the stubby arms and legs issue. He’s given Ironhide a great paint job, though.
Really, it comes down to preference. My mods give the most human proportioned Ironhide, but go take a look at xhairs gallery. You might like it better.

Yes. He was shot in the shoulder, which is often fatal for transformers.

more seriously, i just got ironhide today, two years late, and i gotta say these mods helped soooooo much. i didn’t do the ball joint bit, ‘cuz i’m broke and i don’t have the parts i need, but i can live with it. i really like him, so much so that i’ve actually got a classics ratchet lined up too.
