Ravage – Chasing Tail, Part 7

More drilling and then assembly in the ultimate step of the ultimate Ravage tail mod guide!

Step 6, Unbob the tail

So today’s the conclusion to the Ravage tail fix, so naturally we’re going to work on actually assembling it. That’s easy enough at first, because the bulk of it is just feeding a twist tie through each hole on each piece of the tail. Where it gets tricky is getting the tail to attach to Ravage, and getting the tip to attach so the tail doesn’t fall apart.

You could just glue the wire on there, but what if something does happen and it breaks? The twist tie needs to be easily replaceable, and that’s not going to happen if you’re using glue.

There is a way to do it, and here’s how!

Welcome back to the penultimate post of the ultimate Ravage tail mod guide!

Step 5, Why modders should own a pin vise.

Next up we have to drill a hole through each of the regular sections. Here’s where a pin vise comes in handy. You need something to hold a small drill bit, and a drill is probably going to be to much to use for something as small and precise as what needs to be done for this mod.

Next up in the ultimate Ravage tail mod…

Step 3, Bob Tail!

Next you need to cut each usable section of the tail apart from the others. A usable section is just the ordinary parts, not the bits with joints already.

Step 2, Unscrew Rear

Barring Sunstreaker (or because of him, rather), how many of my toys have asked Ratchet about that command line?

Alright, alright. So first, we’re going to remove the tail itself. To do this, we can’t just yank it out because a pin is holding it in there pretty tight. We’ll have to rearrange some parts to get the screws, but-

A guide on giving Ravage an articulated tail.

And by articulated tail, I mean fully articulated.

And by fully articulated, I mean 18 points of articulation in the tail (19 if you count gray barb on the tip).

Still interested? Then read on, dear reader!

Emo Bee no more!

Monday, July 13th, 2009

So, I picked up an Elite Guard Bumblebee as a present for my future Mrs.

After a quick custom mod, I gotta say… He’s pretty impressive. Thankfully he does not have a yellow head, as all the promo, stock, and package pictures show. The yellow that is there actually enhances the black (and the black enhances the yellow in return), with the deep blue of the stingers and his eyes as delicious icing on this creamy cake of animated goodness.

Maybe it’s the tiny eyes of the movie figs, but boy do I enjoy this Bee’s light piping!

All in all, I must now declare him…

Ravage, HO!

Monday, July 6th, 2009

I passed up Scorponok from the first film because his bot mode was ridiculous and I didn’t feel like paying deluxe price for an out of scale action figure.

Ravage? From the moment my future Mrs. declared, “Deceptikitty!” at the concept art, his place in the collection was sealed. Now, I could tell you about how he exceeds expectations, has an awesome Chocobo of Doom fanmode, or even expound upon his nom-nom gimmick.

But all those pale in comparison to the single best reason to get him. Once you know it, you will have to buy Ravage.

You have been warned!

Spam-Gar!

Friday, July 3rd, 2009

Lots of spam comments lately. Most of them are repetitive comments saying some slight variation of ‘hey good post, very thoughtful. OH BY THE WAY I FOUND A PLACE TO WATCH TRANSFORMERS 2 ONLINE CLIK HERE KAY THANKS!”

Seriously. What idiot thinks this is good marketing for anything?

With this being mainly (so far) a transformers blog I am apparently attracting all the dumb ass ones about watching the movie online at what’s probably a scam site.

It makes me kind of miss the more interesting spam, where at least there was some variety.

That gets me thinking… If the Junkions in G1 learned to speak from old earth tv signals, what if a modern show had them intercepting internet spam?
