NaNoWriMo Captain’s Log: Day 4

Captain’s Log, November 4th, 2009.

I’m such a tease to readers. Ended a bit with a cliffhanger, then described the resulting battle  from the bored perspective of a farmer as he listened to the radio.

Oh, so there’s monsters decimating the city, and one just got beheaded by a chainsaw? That’s in the city, not here.  *click* Hey, Johnny Cash!

Okay, so it’s not exactly like that, but it’s close!

  1. It would make you laugh to say that about it being cruel, or it would make you laugh to read that?

  2. I meant that if I was reading it and it happened that way, I’d say that was cruel but it would probably make me laugh. If it is done well, that kind of thing is unexpected and interesting.

  3. Good! And I was amused, and mindful of the story. There’s no point in pissing off the reader for no reason.

The farmer is a main character, and his perspective is important to the story.

  4. Chainsaws and monsters in a city and a farmer with a radio?

I guess we should have known by now it wasn’t going to be about a courtroom drama or something ordinary.

HECK YEAH FOR THAT! If anyone can wrangle a herd of lolcats into something bad ass and super awesome it’s Matt Booker.

  5. Phantaman, this is probably something Matt wants published. Optimus is owned by HasTak.

Matt, don’t worry about the short captain’s logs lately. Just keep writing the book! :D

  6. lol sorry but i want to tell you about the traaannnssoooorrrrmers. luke and monty havent posted anything about how they are doing on nanowrimo

  7. Luke posted a while ago that he was writing something about a fantoman. I think it’s something about what happened to a lolcat that got turned into a human girl.

  8. I haven’t posted about what I’m writing because I’m not doing it.

Sadly, I just have too many other obligations right now. It might be an option for next year though.
