Welcome back to part 4 of my ROTF deluxe Ratchet mod fix guide. If you remember from the first part of the guide, one of the things I really don’t like about the voyager Ratchet mold is that it has two wheels sticking straight up on either side of his head.
The deluxe mold takes care of that, but not enough! But hey, that’s what guides are for, and today we tackle ROTF deluxe Ratchet’s shoulder kibble problem!
Step 3 – Shoulder Fix
Ratchet’s shoulder kibble is actually pretty cool. I like the design, and it’s leaps and bounds better than just having two alt mode wheels sticking up on either side of his face.
If you follow the instructions, there’s a tab on the bottom of each door that you plug the base of the wheel into. That gives Ratchet’s already hefty shoulders extra bulk with his tires plopped on top of them.
“Hmm. This may sting a bit.”
*cough* *cough* “Yeah. Thanks Ratchet!”
“No problem. Now, what were you saying?”
“Oh. I, uh, was going to ask if your shoulders hurt.”
“They can be tiring, but I tread carefully. Some days I feel like I’ll end up in traction, but it’s been a good year. “
As you can see in that picture, the tires stick up pretty far if you follow the instructions.
However, the design lets the wheels continue to fold down and compact it more than HasTak intended. Just cut off the tab on the bottom of each door and you’ll be able to compact the kibble all the way.
I’ve colored the tab red in the following picture.
While you could just leave the tab there and compact the kibble, it sticks out enough it won’t let the tires sit flush with the door.
Here’s a picture to illustrate the difference in transformations.
It’s a small modification, but it makes a big difference in the shoulder kibble.
Come back tomorrow for Part 5 and Step 4 of my ROTF deluxe Ratchet mod fix guide!
