Action Pose – Rhinox Unrustled

When I got Generations Rhinox from, there was another robot rhino in the box.

It was also bigger, and a whole heck of a lot more angry.

Not that it mattered to Rhinox.

"You trying to rustle my jimmies, Pred?"

That’s Mastermind Creations Fortis, and while Rhinox is not impressed, I certainly am. It’s every bit as good as Bovis! Generations Rhinox is also a great TF, and one of the best that HasTak has done this year. Both are recommended!

And if you’re about to complain about scale, Waspinator is a full size TF in the IDW comics, so maybe Rhinox is too. Okay, so probably not, but scale shouldn’t get in the way of the rule of cool.

So, dear readers, do you like either of these modern renditions of classic robot rhinos? Is this picture the beginning of a slash fic since both of them are clearly horny?

  1. I’m hoping to pick up both of those fellas, but the post-Christmas money lull means I’ll be waiting a little while.

My big regret now is that I never snagged Generations Cheetor or Dinobot. I’m sure they’ll be both expensive and hard to find now that Hasbro’s finally getting around to making the other Beast Wars guys. (Of course, the reason I passed on them in the first place was that I thought they’d never make anybody else from Beast Wars. Clearly, my foresight needs some adjustment.)

  2. Cheetor is not something you should be hunting down. I have the mold and it has a really nice cheetah mode, but the bot mode is awful.

It’s easily one of the worst bot modes I’ve come across. The feet are awkward, the arms are constantly bent because of kibble, and the kibble backpack is the worst part of it.

    Just look at it!

People revile Armada Sideswipe for being one of the worst Transformers ever, but it’s better than that Cheetor.

Dinobot is cool once you do some mods to it, but it’s nowhere near the right scale. He’s a deluxe, when he should be even bigger than Rhinox. If that doesn’t bother you, it’s not a bad TF.

  3. It’s nice to see someone who actually understands and knows Beast Wars scale. I see people say the wildest things. It’s shocking how many don’t know how large Dinobot it, or how small Cheetor actually was.

  4. The different robot heights on that show can be surprising, so I can’t blame them much for that. And with Transformers, if you’re not okay with fudging scale here and there then you’re gonna have a bad time.

Now if they start saying that the original Optimus Primal is the right scale for Generations Rhinox (which I’ve seen people say), that’s different. :)

  5. Okay, so maybe my instincts were good on passing on Dinobot and Cheetor… but my OCD completist nature still wants a complete team. I suppose I could pull out my original Beast Wars guys, but I’m guessing they’re going to look pretty weak by comparison with the new guys.

…And, of course, there’s never been a Dinobot that was bigger than Deluxe size, so he’ll never be show-accurate height. Honestly, back in the day, I would’ve liked them to just make a smaller Optimus to fit in better with the rest of the crew, but what are you gonna do? The Transmetal one seemed pretty good, height-wise.

  6. The Transmetal versions actually fit pretty well with Rhinox. And I do really like that Dinobot.

But that Cheetor isn’t something you should want to track down. Use the original if you want to have a version of it, or wait for third party companies to realize that Beast Wars fans exist and want ones to go along with Rhinox and Waspinator and Rattrap. :)

  7. Now there’s a frightening thought! There’s already enough cool geewun stuff to bankrupt me; I really don’t need them picking up another era I like.

But your arguments (and my lack of disposable income) have won me over. I’m just going to drag out my old BW guys and let Hasbro get around to replacing them whenever. If nothing else, I’ll at least have 3 really cool updated figures hanging out with the gang.
