Action Pose – Orion Pax vs Devastator

IDW Orion Pax was the badass supercop of Cybertron. The only way he could top that was to become Optimus Prime.

That’s why when the Constructions were suspected of combining without a license, there was only one bot who could defy scale and continuity to axe them about it. To their face.

Hook is about to have a splitting foot-ache.

Ever notice that Orion Pax has rocket boosters in his feet? That’s a cherry on top of an already decadent milkshake, as even without that it’s one of the best deluxe bots Hasbro has made in a while. From the transformation to the poseability to the color and character, it’s bots like these that remind me HasTak can actually put out good retail product.

Also pictured is MakeToys Giant Type 61, which is every bit as cool as it looks.

Normally the robot pics posted here have only been gussied up, with all the poses carefully balanced, but since this is the internet and there’s likely to be at least a few people that might ask otherwise, this picture has been shooped. You can tell by the pixels.

So, dear readers, what’s your favorite extra feature on a TF that was tucked away in the molded detail? How can AOE Optimus Prime’s rocket boots allow for interstellar travel?

  1. So how big does Orion stack up to Non-Constructicons for real? I’ve never been able to find a good scale reference regarding the MakeToys Giant.

  2. Favorite extra feature buried in molded detail? All the damn rockets on Masterpiece Grimlock. Rockets in the body hinges, rockets under the dino feet, and rockets under the robot feet. Nothing is safe from his ass-kicking!

  3. That’s a good one! And Masterpiece Wheeljack has rockets in his feet too, which is fitting since he could fly outside of the initial episodes.

  4. Favourite extra detail would be the spark chamber molded in Masterpiece Tracks and Road Rage. You can just barely see then under the chest piece!

  5. That’s a really good one! MP Ironhide and Ratchet have that part too, and Combiner Wars Megatron.

  6. Another favorite of mine (which I just recently discovered!) would be the little hidden speakers and circuitry on the insides of MP Soundwave’s arm flaps.

  7. Those are great too!

While we’re talking about MP hidden details… one that I’m not exactly a fan of is the G1 toy sticker face detail on MP Ironhide and Ratchet. It’s a neat detail at first…

    But it’s always there.
