Christmas At Walmart

Thursday, December 24th, 2009

Welcome to a special Christmas edition of The MOAR You Know!

While browsing through a recent Walmart circular,  I found a particularly unsettling Christmas Ad. It’s a thing so disturbing, it may take multiple viewings to fully grasp the depth of it.

Are you ready?

The MOAR You Know – Hardhead

Wednesday, October 7th, 2009

Classics 2.0 \ Universe Hardhead really is a nice redeco of Onslaught, and while many have compared him to a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Party Wagon, few know the real truth behind the character.

ROTF Jetfire – GERWALK?

Wednesday, September 16th, 2009

If you read reviews of ROTF Jetfire, you’ll hear about how the SR71 Blackbird mode is impressive (it is), how it’s friggin huge (it is), and how it’s basically a robot stuck under a plane (it kind of is).

I say ‘kind of’ because it’s quite a bit of kibble, but it’s not entirely obvious that it’s a robot. He’s more complicated than Silverbolt, but the alt mode is almost completely separate from the robot. If things were detachable, you’d have a Big Convoy situation going on.

The MOAR You Know – MISB

Tuesday, September 1st, 2009

When I collect transformers, most of the time I get them MISB, or Mint In Sealed Box. Often they’re that way because I get them from a store, but if I’m buying off of ebay I don’t mind paying a bit more for something hard to find if it’s been nicely preserved in package.

I can understand misb toy collectors for other lines, like action figures or hotwheels. It’s not for me, but I can understand it. Those things are nicely displayed in package already, and the main thing not being used is the articulation. But Transformers… Transformers are the rubiks cube of the toy world, leaving them misb is to ignore half of their design and most of their fun.

Once I get them, they don’t stay MISB for long… but some of them would like to.

The MOAR You Know – Mini Figures

Friday, August 14th, 2009

Hello again, dear readers, and welcome to another segment of The MOAR You Know. Today we’ll be examining mini figures and what they’re made of.

You might at first think “That’s easy! They’re made of chibi and cute with just a dash of awesome!”

The more sensible among you would answer, “plastic.”

While the first answer is acceptable, the second is not. Obviously you haven’t been paying attention, or you just weren’t raised on the likes of Lego.

But how many of us were raised on the likes of Lego, and never knew the interesting actuality of their composition, or the terrible truth of their secondary purpose?

Skids! He’s better than you might think.

Sure, being shades of my favorite color helps (like Acid Storm, for instance), and his pilsbury dough-bot action feature is definitely a plus, but I was wary of all that kibble and how it would affect his articulation.

But fear not, dear readers, because Skids is thoroughly posable and the kibble is integrated into the look. The transformation is complex without being frustrating, fits together snugly in both molds, and is different from what we’ve seen so far.

But there are some things you should know about Skids…
