Animated Arcee Leg Mod

Friday, October 22nd, 2010

Way back when I first got Animated Arcee, I did a The MOAR You Know post about her, but didn’t mention the mod I did for her leg.

The lower part of Arcee’s right leg just wouldn’t close up at the knee for bot mode. The left was fine, but there was too much plastic on the right one.

Originally I was waiting to see if other people were reporting the problem, and I posted a very quick guide on the feedback thread on tfw2005 for it.  It’s probably still an excess plastic variance issue, but quite a few people have complained about it.

For instance, Luke’s Arcee had an issue at first, but after he pushed a little harder it worked fine after that. On my Arcee there was too much plastic to the point that forcing it either wouldn’t work or might have broken something.

But as the feedback thread on tfw2005 still has people complaining about it, it looks like the issue is there even with the running change for Arcee’s plastic color.

So if you happen to have an Arcee and it has this problem, here’s a quick guide on how to fix it.

Sidearm Sideswipe Head Fix Mod, Part 1

Wednesday, September 29th, 2010

Sidearm Sideswipe is a great figure, easily measuring up to the original from ROTF and having a completely different transformation whose ease of transformation into alt mode surpasses the original. I even like the red paint and windows, bringing a bit of color to Sideswipe’s otherwise grayscaled color scheme.

But the figure does have a couple problems. The first is something that effects every Sidearm Sideswipe to a varying degree, as it’s an issue with the mold itself. The second is an issue that I haven’t seen a lot of people complain about, but it was a problem on mine so I’m posting the fix for it as well.

Both pertain to the figure’s head, so come take a look at my Sidearm Sideswipe Head Fix Mod!

Human Alliance Barricade Hip Mod

Tuesday, May 4th, 2010

And a response to Yo Go Re’s review over at OAFE.net.

You know, coming up with a fix for a problem that a transformer has is a fun thing for me. If something really bugs me about a toy, even if it’s a small thing, that annoyance grows disproportionately until I grab a sharp thing and have at it till it’s fixed.

It’s like a good version of emo.

Or if Jerry Seinfeld was a psychopath.

(Did I just do a ‘Seinfeld stops dating women because of little things’ joke? Man, I really don’t like that show but somehow I’ve seen more episodes than I’d care to…)

(Was that a subtle way of explaining the above joke? Yes, with my shame exposed as bonus.)

Nursing Ratchet, Part 7

Tuesday, March 16th, 2010

Welcome back to my mod guide on how to fix rotf deluxe Ratchet! Today’s step is about fixing Ratchet’s alt mode kibble.

Ratchet comes packaged in alt mode, and actually looks pretty decent so far as representations go. But one of the first things you notice about it, to the point it just about smacks you in the face, is the kibble. It doesn’t look like it even rolls.

Nursing Ratchet, Part 6

Monday, March 15th, 2010

Welcome back to  my guide on how to fix Revenge of the Fallen deluxe Ratchet. Today’s mod takes care of the tab behind Ratchet’s head in bot mode.

I thought about keeping it for a while, and even picturing it as an extra armor plate. It’s cool that way, but it’s even better now that it can fold away for non hostile situations.

Nursing Ratchet, Part 5

Friday, March 12th, 2010

Welcome back to part 5 of my guide on how to fix your ROTF deluxe Ratchet! Today’s step is an easy one, not being a mod so much as a better transformation. Still, it’s a simple thing that people overlook and it fixes a very annoying problem with Ratchet.

Nursing Ratchet, Part 4

Thursday, March 11th, 2010

Welcome back to part 4 of my ROTF deluxe Ratchet mod fix guide. If you remember from the first part of the guide, one of the things I really don’t like about the voyager Ratchet mold is that it has two wheels sticking straight up on either side of his head.

The deluxe mold takes care of that, but not enough! But hey, that’s what guides are for, and today we tackle ROTF deluxe Ratchet’s shoulder kibble problem!

Nursing Ratchet, Part 3

Wednesday, March 10th, 2010

Welcome back to part 3 and step 2 of my mod fix guide for ROTF deluxe Ratchet.  If you’ve been following along, you should have a Ratchet with full side to side head movement.

Today’s step gives him the ability to tilt his head back. That may not sound like much, but it adds new depth to his head articulation’s range of motion and really ups his expressive ability.

This step is more involved than yesterday’s mod, but it’s worth the effort.
