Fansproject Car Crash and T-Bone – Leg Mod \ Knee Fix

Thursday, April 25th, 2013

I kind of wanted to call this guide, Fansproject Stunticons – Fix ‘em if you got ‘em, because really, if you got ‘em, they need fixin’. But I’m also trying to be more specific with the titles for friendly interweb searching.

If you have them, you probably already know what I’m talking about. Transforming them makes you feel like you’re breaking them.

Fansproject has done a great job with these two. Really, they have. They’re not deluxe size, but they are bigger than scouts, and I’m a fan of smaller TFs. They’ve got great articulation, and that with the excellent robot sculpts mean FP Car Crash and FP T-Bone are just begging to be put in dynamic action poses.

And who doesn’t like sexy race cars?

Fall of Cybertron Kickback – Leg Mod and Better Alt Mode

Tuesday, March 12th, 2013

The Insecticons are favorites of mine, and Kickback is my favorite of those. I even have the rerelease G1 versions in my Classics display.

So naturally Generations FOC Kickback was going to be awesome. Right?

It’s not like HasTak would give Kickback an alt mode that looked like an apathetic jumble of bug parts that decided to take a nap, and would completely ignore the most important part of his alt mode and the reason for his name…

Right?

Universe Dinobot Mod – Longer Sword

Friday, October 26th, 2012

Some of you may have noticed that in my previous Dinobot mod, there was a picture of Dinobot that showed off a custom modded sword.

I haven’t painted it silver yet, but it does look a lot better than the version that comes with it.

Universe Dinobot Mod – Raptor Robot Kibble Fix

Thursday, October 25th, 2012

Universe Dinobot isn’t a bad tf, even if the color scheme is a bit questionable. (Did the person responsible for the first Transformers Universe line get rehired? Why make such a great homage and not do the proper colors?) It’s got a decent robot mode, but while the dino mode is better than the original, it doesn’t even try to hide the robot arms.

PRID Bulkhead Mod – Wrist Fix

Monday, August 27th, 2012

Regular readers here already know I’m a big fan of the Transformers Prime RID Bulkhead, and use it in Classics. It’s a great mold, but it does have a bit of a problem…

The hands don’t fold out all the way.

Animated Arcee Leg Mod

Friday, October 22nd, 2010

Way back when I first got Animated Arcee, I did a The MOAR You Know post about her, but didn’t mention the mod I did for her leg.

The lower part of Arcee’s right leg just wouldn’t close up at the knee for bot mode. The left was fine, but there was too much plastic on the right one.

Originally I was waiting to see if other people were reporting the problem, and I posted a very quick guide on the feedback thread on tfw2005 for it.  It’s probably still an excess plastic variance issue, but quite a few people have complained about it.

For instance, Luke’s Arcee had an issue at first, but after he pushed a little harder it worked fine after that. On my Arcee there was too much plastic to the point that forcing it either wouldn’t work or might have broken something.

But as the feedback thread on tfw2005 still has people complaining about it, it looks like the issue is there even with the running change for Arcee’s plastic color.

So if you happen to have an Arcee and it has this problem, here’s a quick guide on how to fix it.

Sidearm Sideswipe Head Fix Mod, Part 2

Welcome back to the second part of my guide on how to fix Sidearm Sideswipe’s head problems.  Today we fix a problem that might not happen on every Sideswipe, but is very frustrating when it does.

Sidearm Sideswipe Head Fix Mod, Part 1

Wednesday, September 29th, 2010

Sidearm Sideswipe is a great figure, easily measuring up to the original from ROTF and having a completely different transformation whose ease of transformation into alt mode surpasses the original. I even like the red paint and windows, bringing a bit of color to Sideswipe’s otherwise grayscaled color scheme.

But the figure does have a couple problems. The first is something that effects every Sidearm Sideswipe to a varying degree, as it’s an issue with the mold itself. The second is an issue that I haven’t seen a lot of people complain about, but it was a problem on mine so I’m posting the fix for it as well.

Both pertain to the figure’s head, so come take a look at my Sidearm Sideswipe Head Fix Mod!

Human Alliance Barricade Hip Mod

Tuesday, May 4th, 2010

And a response to Yo Go Re’s review over at OAFE.net.

You know, coming up with a fix for a problem that a transformer has is a fun thing for me. If something really bugs me about a toy, even if it’s a small thing, that annoyance grows disproportionately until I grab a sharp thing and have at it till it’s fixed.

It’s like a good version of emo.

Or if Jerry Seinfeld was a psychopath.

(Did I just do a ‘Seinfeld stops dating women because of little things’ joke? Man, I really don’t like that show but somehow I’ve seen more episodes than I’d care to…)

(Was that a subtle way of explaining the above joke? Yes, with my shame exposed as bonus.)
