Sidearm Sideswipe Head Fix Mod, Part 1
September 29th, 2010Sidearm Sideswipe is a great figure, easily measuring up to the original from ROTF and having a completely different transformation whose ease of transformation into alt mode surpasses the original. I even like the red paint and windows, bringing a bit of color to Sideswipe’s otherwise grayscaled color scheme.
But the figure does have a couple problems. The first is something that effects every Sidearm Sideswipe to a varying degree, as it’s an issue with the mold itself. The second is an issue that I haven’t seen a lot of people complain about, but it was a problem on mine so I’m posting the fix for it as well.

Action Pose – Optimus vs Starscream
September 24th, 2010In the previous post, I mentioned my appreciation of Voyager Leader Prime (Hunt for the Decepticons voyager Battle Blades Optimus Prime) being in scale with deluxe Ironhide and almost in scale with deluxe Ratchet. I also mentioned that I like jet transformers being bigger than car transformers, and Decepticons being bigger than Autobots.
That brings us to today’s Action Pose.
The MOAR You Know – Movie Optimus Prime Scale
September 20th, 2010I don’t usually pay much attention to scale with my collection. For a transformers collector, that’s a very good thing.
I know people that have shelves just for planes and just for cars, people that obsess over vehicle mode scale, and people that want bot mode scale based on media appearance.
Action Pose – Optimus and Roller
September 7th, 2010When I was a kid, instead of the original Optimus Prime toy I had the powermaster version. It was a mighty brick of a toy, with an Optimus that could combine with his trailer, but there was no Roller with the set.
So, outside of a few G1 episodes, I didn’t pay much attention to Optimus’s third component. And aside from some more recent comics, most Transformers series did too.
But when TFC came out with their Battle Rollar figure, I found myself intrigued with the concept. While fragility issues and a high price point kept me from buying one of those, Hasbro would eventually give me a better substitution.
Action Pose – Drift vs Starscream
August 17th, 2010There are a lot of people that hate Drift, based on what he has or hasn’t done in the IDW comics. I haven’t read much of those, so I’m looking at Drift from a purely toy perspective.
Swords? Hip scabbards? Gigantic sword?
Yes please.
I like him quite a bit better than Blurr. While the mold is articulate, it’s not so great at running poses. Drift is more suited for battle stances, especially with the swords, and he looks nice kicking, too.
The MOAR You Know – HFTD Deluxe Ironhide
July 18th, 2010I really like deluxe Ironhide.
The legs have more articulation than the voyager figure, featuring no kibble between the legs so he can stand up straight and working ankles so he can stand straddle if need be.
The kibble is unobtrusive, with a nice panel folding up as armor on the back and it being minimal on the legs. His hood pieces don’t encapsulate his head, and the armor on the chest doesn’t jut out so far.
It’s nice that the head plate isn’t the same color as the head, and the head itself is on a balljoint. He doesn’t have a waist swivel, but has pretty much everything else so far as articulation goes.
Overall, I’d like to see these improvements implemented in a new voyager figure for TF3.
As it is, deluxe Ironhide does have some issues. For instance, his forearms are proportionate but his upper arms have an elbow where the bicep should be.
Oh, and he’s short…
Generations Blurr Review and Gallery!
June 1st, 2010Generations Blurr Review!
Yes, you read that right. I’ve finally splurged a massive amount of cash and joined the ranks of advance video reviewers such as Peaugh and Genzao! I am super excited to bring you this, as not only is Transformers Generations Blurr a highly anticpated must have, he is THE must have figure of the generations line! He totally blows Drift out of the rice paddy!
And, as an added bonus: THIS IS A WORLD PREMIER EXCLUSIVE NEVER BEFORE SEEN REVIEW.
That’s right, it may have cost me enough to army build with MP Grimlock, but I got ahold of Generations Blurr before he ever even hit Ebay. Many thanks to my buddy overseas! I hope you enjoy the Vespa!
Please, bear in mind that this is not a proto, and it’s plastered with NOT FOR SALE and a glop of paint across the hood, but I’ve been told this was from the step before it went to factory and even with the flaws he’s super cool.
Yeah yeah. So lets get on with it and get to what you came for!

Transformers Generations Blurr Alt Mode

This is probably the worst part of the figure. As you can see, it’s almost identical to Generations Drift, but with a super cool spike on the back in place of a spoiler (ala g1 and animated Blurr), so the alt mode itself is good.
But this is the only mode where the NOT FOR SALE is completely obvious, and that melted wax looking paint glop on the hood just looks terrible.
But as I’ve said before, I don’t collect cars. And eventually when he hits retail I’ll just sell the proto off on ebay. I think Seibertron buys stuff like that.

Sooooo cool. I really dig how he’s rockin the cornflower blue and emo black, cause Blurr is hard like that and he can pull it off.
He’s a total gunslinger, and the shoulders remind me of a poncho.

The MASSIVE BFG BACK CANNON looks like a rifle out of Evangelion. Or maybe I just haven’t seen it in a while.

If you look close on the pistols, he’s got little autobot logos.

Drift kind of reminded me of Springer, but Blurr’s practically a spitting image of his spotlight appearance.
The feet are kind of clunky, but just like Drift they don’t bother the articulation much.
